“Australian of the Year in the UK” Award "Honorary Australian of the Year in the UK" Award
In 2004 the Australia Day Foundation introduced, as part of the UK Australia Day celebrations the “Australian in the UK” Award and the “Honorary Australian in the UK” Award. The first is open to Australians in the UK in all fields of endeavour – science, business, sport, media, culture, film, television, radio, etc. The second is open to all non-Australians in the UK.
The first award will provide everyone with the opportunity to recognise an Australian who has excelled in their own right, in the United Kingdom. The second award offers opportunity to recognise a non-Australian resident of the UK who displays ‘Australian characteristics’ or has contributed significantly to Australia.
Nominations for the 2009 Awards close on 28 November 2008, and you can nominate someone for one, or both awards. A judging panel will make the selections.
